Marmaris, a coastal town that is a part of Mugla province, is a popular destination in the south part of Turkey.

For the last 4 decades, the popularity of Marmaris kept increasing, making Marmaris a prime summer destination along with Bodrum, Cesme and several destinations in Antalya.

Marmaris, known for its lively night life and beautiful beaches is one of the best summer destinations in Turkey. 

For many visitors and tourists, Marmaris is synonymous with package tourism, beautful night life and economic accomodation options. Tourists, mostly British but also German, Russian and Dutch, can easily be found at cafes around the harbor. This beautiful coastal town on the Turkish Med definietly has a lively character of its own.

The plan to expand the port of Marmaris is now a main issue during the elections with the plans of turning the central bar area to a more traditional space rather than its noisy and lively situation. The plans to expand the port was faced with harsh critism from the environmentalists who plan not to stop their opposition even if it is taken as far as European Human Rights court.
